The Benefits of Self-Contained Display Panels
It’s tempting. To go with the cheaper cabinet display model. You wonder if there is that much of a difference between the cabinet model and self-contained display panel.
There is.
That self-contained display panel will give you a lower total cost of installation and lower maintenance costs throughout it’s lifetime.
You may save money now by purchasing the cabinet display. Months and years from now, however, are very different.
There are several benefits to self-contained display panels. What you see as the initial cost benefit of cabinet displays is easily outweighed by the long-term benefits of self-contained displays.
More Efficient Operation
Self-contained panels bring the display’s parts closer together. Electricity doesn’t need to be carried as far as it does in cabinet displays, leading to less wasted energy and less heat created.
When the panels generate less heat, they don’t require the bulky cooling units found in cabinet displays. By eliminating cooling units, self-contained panels automatically:
- Use 1/3 less power to operate than cabinet panels
- Stop generating as much heat (since the very fans used to cool the units also contribute to the excess heat)
- Have fewer parts requiring maintenance
- Are cleaner, since contaminated outside air isn’t being pulled into the unit
Reducing the wasted energy and heat in a panel lowers your operating costs – and means your panel requires less maintenance.
Speaking of Maintenance…
Imagine rarely needing to contact a maintenance company. No more losing power in your digital display during your busiest times from overheating. No more lost revenues from advertisers who don’t want to advertise with someone whose displays are constantly down.
Less heat equals fewer failures since fragile electrical components aren’t being overheated. But the sealed self-contained design also prevents dust and damp (two other leading causes of damage to the electrical components) from getting inside of the unit.
When maintenance is required, it’s simple. The panel is removed and replaced – no lengthy diagnostic periods, no going back and forth for parts. And the replacement is done while your panel is still operating (called hot-swappable).
If a cabinet display needs to be replaced, you may be without a sign for weeks or even months.
The Design Just Looks Better
Computers, TVs, cell phones – these digital devices have accustomed us to one thing: we want slimmer, sleeker designs. The bulky cabinets traditionally found in LED displays certainly do not fit this trend.
And how do we often use displays? For advertising. Companies spend thousands of dollars to develop eye-catching, modern advertisements. They certainly don’t want to see those advertisements on signs that look like they’re a decade or two behind.
Those bulky cabinet displays mean more than customers dismissing your displays as outdated, though. Installation costs go up as more people and/or equipment are needed to heft the display into place. The same applies to maintenance costs.
Step Into the Future
Saving money now is something we all look to do. But as a business, you also need to invest wisely. The benefits of self-contained display panels – lower long-term operating costs, less maintenance, and aesthetic design – bring a value to your purchase that goes beyond that initial cost.
