How to Choose an LED Manufacturer
There are a lot of people who claim to be just like us out there. The LED industry is a big and growing one, and we know you have many choices when it comes to buying LEDs.
Whether you are purchasing an LED display or retrofitting your building for LED lighting, this is a big investment. How do you make this decision? Here are a few tips.
Product Quality
Of course product quality comes first. If the lighting being demonstrated isn’t that bright or flickers, or the color of the light seems off, it’s likely an inferior product.
Other considerations regarding quality are:
- Do the manufacturer’s products meet or exceed the requirements set forth by the regulatory body? In the United States, these bodies are Underwriter Laboratories (UL) and American National Standard Institute (ANSI).
- Is a warranty offered? Be sure to find out exactly what the warranty does and doesn’t cover.
- How much energy does the LED consume? After all, one of the benefits to using LED lighting or displays is the energy efficiency. If one manufacturer’s product consumes considerably more energy than other comparable products, you should probably remove that manufacturer from your list.
- Has the performance of the LED been independently tested? How was the testing done, and what were the criteria used?
Budget Restrictions
You don’t want to buy a product you can’t really afford, even if the product is a superior one. However, a reputable and customer-service-oriented manufacturer will guide you to options that will accomplish your goals within your budget.
What More Do You Get?
Yes, the quality of the materials, how the LEDs are made, and the standards the company adheres to is important. However, you should also count on your manufacturer to provide more than a good product.
For example, how is their customer service? Do they respond to your questions and requests quickly and in a friendly manner? Do they seem to WANT to work with you?
They should also be able to help you with everything that goes alongside purchasing LEDs. After all, you probably don’t know what the installation process entails. What permits do you need? Will your project require subcontractors, and when should they be starting and completing their tasks?
You may also need help training your employees and determining when and how often your LED lighting or display needs maintenance. These points are all covered by goodproject management, and this service is very helpful to your company.
Check with Others
Once you’ve found a few manufacturers you like, reach out to other individuals or companies to ask about their experiences. Read online reviews and testimonials. The manufacturer may also be able to provide a list of references for you to contact.
Making Your Decision
There are many factors that go into deciding the quality of the LEDs being manufactured. Once you’ve narrowed down the possibilities based on product quality, you need to make your final choice based on the value of what is offered alongside the products. The best product on the market isn’t worth much if the company doesn’t talk to you after the sale.
